ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Wanda Wyont is the author of two children’s books with years of experience in education. She works in the field of education with over twenty five years in many diverse backgrounds. Her teaching experiences range from infants to college age. She spends her time sharing book talks, the writing process, and consulting at schools, child care centers, and churches. Wanda Wyont  holds an MA in Birth-Kindergarten and  presents a variety of workshops at state and national venues. Her goal is to inspire all children to be good readers and writers.

The big yellow Lab, Barkley, finds a way to sneak out of his lot. At first, he has fun exploring. But, the neighbor’s swimming pool entice him to take a dip. Unfortunately, his good time comes to an end when he cannot find the steps to get out of the water. Barkley’s situation opens up great discussion with children about water safety and following rules. The book is targeted for children ages 4-8 years old. She has received good feedback from classroom teachers and media specialists. It   includes teaching strategies and a list of ways to take care of a pet.

An American Saddle-bred, Sunbeam, is delivered to Kim’s house by mistake. Kim is a young girl that dreams of being a cowgirl. As the horse is unloaded from the trailer, she thinks her dream has come true. But her happiness soon turns to despair when the error is recognized. When her father learns about the mistake he drives the family out to the stables to take a look at the champion horse. The visit to the stables provides unexpected opportunities.  While the book addresses disappointment with the audience, it also helps resolve the issue. During book talks, children respond to the story by sharing their own sad experiences. This book includes a list of teaching strategies. The book is based on a true story.
